You must teach the pedal how your guitar sounds like (Source Guitar). In order to do that you have to record a chromatic scale for each pickup of the Source Guitar (Learning Procedure).
What happens after I run the Learn & Play Mode?
The pedal will match all the 30 Guitar Pickups inside it (Target guitars) to the tone/response of your Source Guitar pickups. Practically the target Guitar sounds will be adapted to the sound of your guitar and this makes possible to emulate for example the tone of a Telecaster through a Les Paul and vice versa.
What should I do if I use to play with a non-standard tuning?
During the Learning Procedure you must use a standard Tuning (440 Hz for Guitar). After that you can drop the tuning without any problem for the good result of the Target Guitar Profiles.
Can I use XT-1 with a 7 strings guitar, or XT-B with a 5 strings bass?
Yes, just run the learning procedure using the 6 standard strings of the guitar or the 4 standard strings of the bass guitar, following the tabs you will find in the instruction manuals. After the learning procedure the device will work even on the additional string. It doesn’t matter if the learning procedure covers a “limited” part of the chromatic scale. This is the portion that is considered relevant for the device to recognize the tone of your guitar/bass.
How can I profile My Guitars?
Just run the Add-Source Mode (Learning), by holding the UP and DOWN Switches for 3 seconds. Make this procedure for each pickup position you wish to profile. Then load the backup of your pedal with the Editor for PC/Mac and you will find these profiles among your source Guitars. Just rename them and move them to Target Guitars using the the dedicated button.
What the writings on the display Neck/Neck Stands for?
The first pickup name is the pickup of the Target Guitar, the second one is the pickup of your source guitar you are supposed to use in that moment.
What happens if I don’t correctly match the Source and Target Guitar Pickups?
It’s not a problem at all. If you are playing with a Neck pickup of any Target Guitar, through the bridge pickup of your Source guitar, the sounds will be anyway close to that on of the Target Guitar in the bridge pickup position.However, the Emulation works in the best realistic way by matching the source and target guitar pickups. For this reason, the pedal automatically assigns the Neck pickup of your Les Paul to the Neck pickup of a Telecaster target guitar. This means that when you want to emulate a Neck pickup of a Telecaster (true to the original) you should switch the pickup selector of your Les Paul to the Neck position.
XT-1 and XT-B can be controlled by MIDI Program Change?
Yes, it’s possible to control XT-1 with a midi pedalboard through MIDI program change. IT’s enough to connect a simple USB/MIDI interface adapter to the USB port of the pedal.
How many Source Guitars can be stored inside the pedal?
It’s possible to store inside the pedal as many Source Guitars as you want.
Where do I place XT-1 or XT-B in my effect chain?
They must be the very first pedals of your guitar rig, since practically they substitute the dry tone/response of your bass/guitar.
What about the emulation of the 2nd or 4th position of a Strat?
It’s possible to emulate also the 2nd and 4th pickup positions of a Strat. In case your source guitar has got a 3 ways switcher (2 pickups), the best result is usually achieved by associating these target guitars to the Mid position of you source guitar. In our store there are already some guitars profiles with 5 position pickup configuration.
